Hill Walking

Many lovely walks are on the door step of Lochbroom Lodge, there's something to suit all tastes from a gentle hill from the lodge through the croft land to the beach west to the rocky rugged coastal route to the lighthouse.  East is the coastal and river path to Ullapool and a coffee break before if you fancy?  A walk up the fairly easy and scenic Ullapool hill path offers various paths suitable for most people.  Behind the lodge a fairly steep climb takes you up through the red deer and buzzards circulation overhead, through a mixture of broken rocks and heather to a flat peaty plateau with a wonderful view to Rhiddorroch, the head of Lochbroom and west to the Isles "A mornings work!"

Through the front window of the lodge you can see An Teallach, one of the classic mountains on the west coast of Scotland six maintops almost 1000 metres in height, snow sits in its gullies sometimes even in June!  Spectacular but a challenge, not for the coffee brigade! Better to be at a coffee bar in Ullapool than on Lord Berkleys Seat (experience needed!).

From the top of the main lodge road you get an impressive view of Ben Mor Coigach sweeping down to the sea in a huge big boy with a fine high and narrod ridge, "you decide"?

There are many Munro's to be bagged in the Ullapool / Lochbroom area, some with easy stalkers paths in but 3000ft up (remote) so remember the return journey.  If you visit the west if you do one walk it's not a huge challenge nor a large chunk out of your holiday and its very rewarding on a calm sunny day, well worth the view and the coffee on the ridge, it's the Stac Pollaidh.
